Pretty and decorative ironstone plate of a fountain within an ornate conservatory or hot house.  Exotic birds and plants abound within a flower and ivy leaf border.  Condition is good, 3 stilt marks on face and glaze wear, age stains on underside.  No chips, cracks or restorations.  Reasonably priced and nice display.  Diameter 9 1/4 inch.  Circa 1850.

DARK BLUE TRANSFER WARE PLATE

~~ CORONATION ~~

James and Ralph Clews 1815 - 1834

A lovely and rare pattern in a rich blue, depicts a vase of late summer flowers, fruit and a bird (Blue Tit I think) on a stone ledge.  Border of leaves and berries.  Printed and impressed marks to base, see pictures.  Condition is excellent with no cracks, chips, hairlines or restoration.  A very small and old flake to foot rim and small amount of age staining to the back of the plate.  Glaze is nice, virtually no crazing, light utensil marks.  A very very nice plate and worthy addition to your collection.

 LARGE BLUE TRANSFER WARE PLATTER

~~ THE PHILOSOPHER ~~

A lovely big platter in a rare and highly collectable pattern by an unknown maker.  A draped figure reclines upon a plinth in a classical ruin with three figures gazing at him, two cows graze completely oblivious to his words of wisdom! 

Condition is excellent, with no cracks, chips, hairlines or restoration.  Usual glaze crazing and some utensil marks, virtually no staining...nice clean, bright, deep colour.  Early 'combed' base which I think you can just see in the picture.  A very very nice platter and a choice center piece.

Length 17 1/2 inch x Width 13 inch.  Circa 1820.

JOHN and WILLIAM RIDGWAY 1814 - 1830.

Super plate in a good rich medium to dark blue, excellent crisp transfer depicting a Lady and gentleman in a horse drawn trap with a scampering dog in the street scene foreground and Pembroke Hall in the background.  From the Oxford and Cambridge College Series.  Condition is excellent with one small chip to rim and a tight hairline to the base which does not go through to the front (see picture) does not detract, display is perfect.  A beautiful addition for your collection.

Lovely pattern depicting the Queen escorted on a walk by a Blackamoor holding a parasol and two children holding her train.  A gothic castle and temple in the background.  Similar to Spode's 'Gothic Castle' pattern, this pattern is by an unknown maker.  Condition is excellent, two old rim chip repairs, see picture.

~~ FISHERMAN'S HUT ~~

A superb dinner plate in this famous pattern depicting the fisherman outside his hut with his fishing net and oars, a dog scampering at his feet.  The fisherman's wife and child with a basket of fish in the foreground and the prow of a sailing ship with mast.  In the background a large country house.  Good mid to dark blue coloring.  Condition is excellent with just a tiny flake to the rim which is barely visible and does not detract, no restoration or cracks.  Maker is un-known and plate un-marked.  A great addition to your collection.

John and Richard Riley, Burslem, Staffordshire. fl. 1802 - 1828.

Pretty mid blue plate from the Large Scroll Border Series.  (The Kings Cottage or Royal Lodge in Windsor Park was built by Nash for the Prince Regent just before he became King George IV in 1820.  It was re-built as Adelaide Lodge in 1831).  Condition is excellent, there is a tiny firing fault near center, see picture, slight age discoloring to the base.  Very nice addition to your historic collection.
