~ French - Circa 1880 ~ ~~ Excellent condition ~~ A superb clock set of the highest quality by the famous maker Japy Freres - this is a large, heavy and majestic clock set. The case is finely cast in bronze/brass and has gained a beautiful patina with age. The clock is surmounted by a classical urn which has a flaming torch finial - the candelabra snuffers are matching. The dial has been made in the style of 18th century examples, being solid and mounted with individual enamelled copper cartouches for each hour. The Japy Freres mark - pictured below - is on the back plate of the movement. The French Japy Freres movement is of excellent quality and runs for 8 days and strikes on a bell and is in excellent, clean and running condition - it is complete with the original bell and pendulum. Click here to hear the bell strike! Condition of the clock and candelabra is excellent, there are no losses and the enamel cartouches of the dial have no cracks or chips. The blued steel hands are original. The patina is a lovely rich brown, the clock is slightly lighter than the candelabra as you can see in the pictures below. An impressive clock set ready to display! Dimensions of clock: Height 21 1/2", Width 14", Depth 6". Dimensions of candelabra: Height 23 3/4", Width 8", Depth 8 1/2".
