Antique French Gilt Brass Cartel Wall Clock

A large and stunning antique French cartel wall clock. It is classically modelled in the style of Louis XVI. Boldly architectural with laurel wreaths and surmounted by and urn. The large enamel dial is lettered in blue and is complete with the original finely fretted gilt brass hands.

The French movement is of high quality and has the Samuel Marti mark on the movement backplate. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled and tested by our clockmaker. Pendulum is is a replacement. It runs for 8 days on one wind and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running.

Condition of the case is excellent with clean and bright finish and there are no losses. There is some wear, discolouration and pitting to the original gilding. The dial has some slight chipping around the winding holes and a light hairline through the 7 o'clock. The glass has a scratch approx 1 1/2" long. The clock displays beautifully as you can see below. 

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
