Stunning Art Nouveau Electrolier - La Fleur des Champs.

With solid oak pedestal

This is a large rare original 4 lamp light from the turn of the century. She is a beautiful gilt figure entitled "La Fleur des Champs" - the flower seller. She is full of movement and life and is surrounded by flowers, 4 of which are electric light fittings, and is stood on a naturalistic base. The base of the figure is signed J Causse and a plaque on the turned plinth is entitled "La Fleur des Champs" Julien Causse is a listed French Sculptor - see the artprice database for more info - this is cast from his original work, cast in spelter and the heavy pedestal is turned from oak - display is stunning as you can see in the pictures below.   

Condition is very good. The figure has been re-finished in gold paint at some time. There are a few small areas where the paint has flaked - the largest is on the base as you can see in the picture below, however the figure looks great and is ready to display. Some of the flower petals and leaves are slightly distorted and one small flower head is missing - does not detract. The turned oak pedestal is probably later then the figure and is solid oak and well made. The finish is very good and the pedestal is in good proportion to the figure.

We have removed the old electrical wiring - the bulbs and fittings in the photographs are to show you how she will look - You should have the light wired up by a qualified electrician. We have not tested the figure for electrical safety and are selling the item as a figure on an oak pedestal. The light fittings are available from any electrical retailer.
