Stunning Impressionist oil on canvas - Portsoy

A lovely landscape painting by Andrew Black of the small 17th century fishing village of Portsoy in the Scottish Highlands. The painting is signed in the bottom left hand corner and also on the reverse.

Andrew Black is well listed in the Art Price database. He was elected to the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Water Colour in 1885. Read about the RSW here in a new window.

Condition is excellent - our painting restorer has carefully cleaned the canvas. There is some slight in-painting in the green ground of the distance - this could be original. The frame is original and is complete except for a slightly bumped corner and some small pieces of old replaced gilt. The frame  just needs a good clean and a waxing.
