Antique French Gilt Clock - Cherub

~ French circa 1890 ~

~~ Excellent Condition  ~~

A very decorative French Gilt clock, featuring a cherub sitting amongst the grape harvest drinking from a vessel surrounded by vines and a jug.

The enamel dial is surrounded by an egg and dart bezel and is delicately painted with a floral swag. The fine steel hands are original and have re-blued by us.

The French movement is of high quality and strikes the hours and the halves on a bell.

It is in full working order, having been cleaned and serviced by our clock maker. It runs for 8 days and keeps time.

Condition of the case is very good. There are no cracks to the enamel dial, just some minor chipping around the winding holes. The case looks great having been polished with gilt wax in our workshop. The back and back legs of the clock has been re-made in brass sheet - this is not visible from the front of the clock. The work is of a high standard and is stronger than the original tin sheet. The retaining ring for the movement does not quite fit the new back, however this does not effect the running or display of the clock.

Clock is complete with pendulum, bell and key.

Dimensions: Width 12 1/2",  Height 13 3/4", Depth 4 1/2".
